Ambient air quality monitoring: The Ambient Monitoring section continuously monitors the quality of the ambient air in Jefferson County and computes and reports the air quality index.

Asbestos Program: Please contact us if you have questions about asbestos or are planning demolition or remodeling of a building (other than your own private residence).

Citizen concerns: The Enforcement group investigates reports of air pollution problems. To report a problem, contact APCD.

Environmental Programs: The environmental programs section deals with transportation and mobile sources, land use planning, voluntary ozone prevention initiatives, pollution prevention, energy efficiency and related issues.

Gasoline Systems: The "Stage II" group inspects and issues permits to gasoline dispensing facilities to ensure that their equipment meets federal and local requirements. Please contact us if you have any questions.

Open Records Requests: The agency provides information and data requested under open-records laws, taking care to maintain the anonymity of citizens who report air pollution problems and to protect confidential business information.

Permits: The Engineering and Enforcement division issues construction permits and operating permits to regulated facilities and conducts periodic inspections to verify compliance. These permits specify emission control devices and/or restrict the quantities of pollutants that may be emitted.

Public Information and Outreach: The community outreach coordinator responds to media inquiries and acts as primary contact for the most accurate, up-to-date information.

Regulations: The Air Pollution Control Board issues regulations to control air pollution in Jefferson County; the APCD drafts and enforces these regulations.
