Two- and four-legged (canine) members of the community are invited to enjoy a tail-waggin’ good time at the Animal Care Society’s (ACS) Sixth Annual Bark in the Park. The Sept. 19 event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Seneca Park, is the no-kill shelter’s main annual fundraiser.
The day’s schedule of events:
9 a.m.: vendor booths open and Flying Houndz perform
9:30 a.m.: walk to benefit the ACS* (registration begins at 8:30 a.m.)
10-10:30 a.m.: pet Halloween costume contest
10:30-11 a.m.: adoptable pets parade (animals from local shelters)
11-11:30 a.m.: photo time for former ACS dogs and their adopted humans
11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: Donny Dynamite & the Dynamos perform
12:30-1:30 p.m.: Canine Idol competition
1:30-2:30 p.m.: Flying Houndz perform
2:30-3 p.m.: police canine unit demonstration
3-3:30 p.m.: raffle prizes awarded
*($25 donation per walker-pre registration; Day of event $30 donation; those with pledges of $750 or more will be entered into a drawing for a 46” flat-screen television)
Food and dog-themed booths, crafts for the kids, canine caricatures by cartoonist Rose Capelle and much more will round out the fun.
