Expanded Hours for Animal Adoptions

Thursday December 14, 2006

Metro Animal Services Expands Adoption Hours and Partners with Barkstown for Satellite Adoption Location

Metro Animal Services (MAS) announces expanded hours for adoptions at its Animal Care Center, 3705 Manslick Road (at the intersection of Crums Lane). Beginning Monday, December 18, the new adoption hours are Monday and Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Regular office hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The expanded hours are part of an effort to increase adoptions and to provide better customer service to the community.

“Our adoptions have already tripled in the past year and a half, going from an average of 30 adoptions per month to 100, and we hope that our longer hours will be more convenient and continue to increase the number of animals finding new loving homes,” said Jackie Gulbe, Metro Animal Services assistant director for community relations.

In addition to expanding the hours at the Animal Care Center, a satellite adoption location has been added. Barkstown, a doggie daycare, boarding and grooming business, located at 915 Barret Avenue in the Highlands, will have MAS dogs and puppies available for adoption during their regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

“We are quite excited to partner with Metro Animal Services in the endeavor of helping homeless animals find new homes,” commented Russell King, owner of Barkstown. “Many of our clients have rescued dogs, and we want to be a part of encouraging more people to adopt homeless animals. They simply make wonderful companions and are truly grateful for a second chance at a happy life.”
