Animal Services Newsroom
August is Honor Elvis Month
Friday August 1, 2008
Things are rockin’ and rollin’ at Metro Animal Services (MAS) this August. In honor of the late great Elvis Presley, MAS is celebrating the shelter’s adoptable Homeless Hounds and Cool Cats by reducing adoption fees during the month of August. Adoption fees for select and marked Homeless Hound Dogs & Puppies and Cool Cats & Kittens will be discounted $35 (in honor of the year the King was born, 1935). That will make the average dog adoption fee $100 and cat adoption fee $50.
On Saturday August 16th (the 31st anniversary of his death) an even greater discount will be given to adopters who dress up like Elvis. If you dress like Elvis the adoption fee for specially selected Homeless Hound Dogs & Puppies will only be $77 (the year we lost the King, 1977) and Cool Cats & Kittens will be just $35. Some of Elvis’ favorite treats will be served and there will even be a visit from the King himself. After all, Elvis lives! Photo opportunities will abound.
“It will be an all out Elvis day at MAS and we hope that a lot of animal-loving Elvis fans will help many of our homeless hounds and cool cats,” said Jackie Gulbe, assistant director of community relations. “It always makes our day when we can say another one of our adoptable animals has ‘left the building’”.
