Metro Animal Services High Intake Numbers Prompt Adoption Special

Friday July 27, 2012

Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) is seeing standing room only at the intake center and space is running out!

“We have 104 cats at our Animal House Adoption Center which is a record high and approximately 150 at our Manslick location,” said LMAS Director Justin Scally. “We also have over 200 dogs hoping for a second chance.”

LMAS staff is making every effort to find placement for them through adoption, rescue and foster but the number of animals continue to increase. These animals become homeless for a variety of reasons. Some are surrendered by their owners who simply don’t have time or money for them anymore; others find themselves in the shelter due to negligence or abuse. Most of them did nothing wrong, they just ran into some bad luck.

In an effort to save lives and make room for the animals expected to be surrendered in the coming days, adoption specials are in place.

ADOPTION SPECIALS (July 28, 2012 thru August 5, 2012)

Cats $9 (six months and older)

Kittens $35 (six months and younger)

Dogs $1 per pound over 40 pounds

All other dogs $9 (with a $75 gift card donation from a retailer that sells pet supplies)

*all with an approved applications
