Offer Extended! License Your Pet Online and Skip the Late Fees!
Thursday December 18, 2008
Pet owners who missed the chance to save late fees for licensing have a second shot at savings. Metro Animal Services (MAS) has extended their offer of forgiving license late fees for online licensing through January 18, 2009.
MAS’ new online licensing tool allows Louisville pet owners to license their cat, dog or ferret without ever leaving home. To celebrate the new online licensing tool, MAS began waiving late fees in November for pets whose licenses had either lapsed or were never purchased.
“Licensing your pet is one of your most important responsibilities as a pet owner, and it could absolutely save your pet’s life,” said Jackie Gulbe, assistant director for community relations. “It insures that if a pet were lost, that pet would be sheltered in a safe environment until it is claimed by the owner. Think of a license as an insurance policy.”
Late fees range from $47.50 for altered animals to $195 for unaltered animals. Licensing late fees will be waived only for individuals who license their animals using the online licensing tool available at www.louisvilleky.gov/animalservices.
The new MAS online pet licensing tool was developed in partnership with Louisville Metro Government and Kentucky Interactive, the Frankfort-based company which runs Kentucky.gov, the official website for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
