Volunteer Opportunities in Pet Adoptions

In the last quarter of 2007, LMAS increased its adoptions to nearly 200 animals a month. This is a significant increase from 2004, when we averaged about 25 a month. We owe much of our latest success to the implementation of a new volunteer program and increased off-site adoptions.

We rely on our volunteers to spend their time with each adopter, working to insure that our animals are going to quality, educated homes. Adoptions and Lost and Found could lower our euthanasia rates to the point where we never have to destroy adoptable animals. We are seeking high quality, committed volunteers to make this happen.

As an Adoption Counselor, you would play a unique role in our community. You would be the person matching dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals with the best possible home. This service requires training beyond the initial volunteer orientation and also depends heavily on good customer service skills. Check our Calendar for the next training date!

Saturdays are our busiest day, but we also have shifts available through out the week. We ask that you commit to a weekly three hour shift at our main shelter. Shifts are as follows:

        10 to 1 pm
        12 to 3 pm
        2 to 5 pm

We are open for adoptions extended hours on Weds and Fridays until 7 pm and have an additional shift for volunteers from 4-7 pm.

Adoptions Counseling is an exceptionally rewarding volunteer position. There is nothing like watching a family take home their new best friend!
