Lost and Found

In order to find your pet, you must visit our shelter in person!
We do not have the staff to maintain a telephone-based lost and found, and can not tell you over the phone if your pet is here (we house 400 animals every day). Please see our Hours of Operation to plan your visit. We advise you to check every few days for your lost pet.

If you plan to advertise your lost pet, DO NOT advertise to offer a reward! This encourages people to steal pets. Thank the finder with a gift certificate or a donation in their name to an animal welfare group instead.

Lost & Found
The best way to be sure you are reunited with your pet is if it wears its current tags at all times. If you do loose your pet and it comes into Metro Animal Services care it is much easier for a reunion when your pet is wearing its tag. If your dog is brought to our shelter it will be held as a stray for 5 days. The five days start the day your pet arrives. It is very important that you check our facility as often as possible. A minimum of every two days is recommended. It is very difficult to help you identify your pet over the phone. Our shelter houses hundreds of animals on a daily basis. If we make a mistake identifying your pet it could cost it its life. We hope that your pet is worth the trip to our facility. After the stray time is expired your pet may be adopted in to a new home

An animal wearing its license tag can return home much faster and easier than one without a tag. Anyone finding an animal can call our dispatch number at 363-6609 with the license tag number an recieve the owner's name, address and phone number.

To see SOME of the animals impounded in our shelter, you can visit our website at www.petharbor.com
