All plots will be inspected and all plots should be under cultivation. There is no such thing as a “non-gardening gardener.” In cases where the plot has not been planted, is weedy, or does not meet the guidelines, the gardener will be notified. Failure to respond within 7 days will result in forfeiture of the plot. Garden plots will be reassigned after two “weed warnings”. We must maintain high standards.
Garden plots should be kept weed and pest free at all times.
Please conserve the use of water. Mulch with leaves, grass clippings, or straw to reduce water evaporation. Unattended watering is not permitted. Notify the garden coordinator of any leaks in the water line. Make sure all faucets are off when you leave the garden.
All common areas must be litter free and well maintained at all times.
Each gardener is responsible for maintaining walkways adjacent to their garden plots and to help maintain the entire garden area.
Plant waste should be chopped up and placed in bags for yard waste collection. Do not mix plant waste with regular trash.
Harvesting other gardeners’ produce without permission is strictly prohibited. Keep your produce picked.
Be considerate of your fellow gardeners. Do not plant sprawling crops or tall ones that might interfere with others. Individual fencing of plots is allowed. Structures (i.e. trellises, stakes, fencing) are to be less than 4 feet in height and must be kept neat. Do not spray on windy days. Keep insects and weeds under control. Don’t let your weeds or plants creep into one of your neighbor’s plots.
If vandalism or theft occurs, notify the site coordinator. Discourage losses by questioning unfamiliar faces. No stealing of anything is permitted. Should it become known that you have taken anything: a vegetable, tools, hose, plants or anything else, you will lose your plot.
If you bring small children or pets into the garden, please watch them closely to be sure that no garden plot is trampled and no one’s produce is picked.
Notify your garden coordinator if you are no longer able to tend to your plot, will be absent a long period of time, or have asked a friend to tend your garden.
All dead plants, weeds, fencing, and stakes must be removed from the plot by date notified for fall cleanup.
Crops must be harvested once they are mature. Share extra produce with a shelter, food bank, or with someone who cannot garden.
All gardeners should help place bags of garden waste at specified pick up location or in dumpsters if available.
All tools should be cleaned before returning to the tool shed. Please close the shed door and lock the shed when leaving the garden.
Your compliance with the above regulations will help everyone have an enjoyable and prosperous garden.
