“SUBURBAN” COMMUNITY
GARDEN PROGRAM
Updated August 2007

History

No written history exists on the old Jefferson County Community Garden program. From hearsay, the program started 27 years ago with a garden in Newburg. The county program was merged into Brightside in spring 2003 and began as an activity for senior citizens.

In 2007 the management of the gardens was taken over by the Jefferson County Cooperative Extention Agency in order to provide more resources for the gardeners.
