Potential Volunteer Opportunities
Cleanups: One of the most impactful ways to volunteer with Brightside is by gathering a group of family, friends, or coworkers to conduct a cleanup of the community. Conducting a cleanup in your community is extremely convenient. Why? You get to choose the date, location, and length of time you will be working! Brightside provides bags and gloves to volunteers conducting cleanups free of charge, as well as a limited number of tools that can be loaned out. Brightside also works with Metro Solid Waste to coordinate trash being picked up from your location so you don’t have to worry about it!
After that, the freedom is in your hands to determine where you see a need. If you’re having trouble deciding on a location, feel free to ask! Brightside is happy to suggest areas of our community that might be in need of your help.
To schedule a cleanup, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Patrick, at (502) 574-4167, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Two weeks’ advanced notice is preferred to ensure the coordination of trash pick up.
Also, be sure to mark your calendars each year for our two community-wide cleanups! For more information on the community-wide cleanups, please click here.
Special Events: Do you enjoy working at events? Brightside has a variety of opportunities to get involved with some of our special events throughout the year. From coordinating parking, to running a registration table, to manning a booth and everything in between, our volunteers play an essential role in helping our events run safely and smoothly.
Wednesdays with Cindy: Something new Brightside has incorporated this year is the opportunity to be in the field with our extremely talented Landscape Coordinator, Cindy. On the last Wednesday of every month, volunteers have the opportunity to get their hands dirty with Cindy planting, weeding, and other maintenance-related activities surrounding our beautiful BrightSites.
In the Office: Do people often compliment you on your handwriting? Are you an organized individual? If so, Brightside would be happy to have your talents shared with us in our office! We can often use help writing notes and letters, sorting through office materials, and a variety of other tasks that come up throughout the week.
