Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup Sets Record Growth

Sunday October 23, 2011

Thanks to the 230 groups that registered their families, friends, employers, places of worship, suburban cities, schools and other organizations for the Brightside Community-Wide Cleanup held in conjuction with Give-a-Day, the Mayor's Day of Service on October 22.

This was Brightside's largest fall cleanup ever, with 6,209 registered volunteers! These environmental stewards helped remove 10 tons of trash from streets, sidewalks and green spaces. Special thanks to Louisville Metro Solid Waste Management for hauling away the debris and to the Kentucky Pride Fund.

Volunteers received free bags, gloves and T-Shirts courtesy of our sponsors WW Grainger and PNC Bank. Great corporate citizens are making a difference in the community by supporting Brightside's anti-litter initiatives, keeping Louisville clean, green and beautiful.

Brightside is donor-funded and volunteer-driven. If you are unable to participate in Brightside's cleanups, please consider sponsoring our volunteers by making a tax deductible donation today. Your support is valued and appreciated!

Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available for next spring's cleanup. Call Brightside today 502.574.2613 for details.
