Louisville Tie sales benefit Brightside

Tuesday October 26, 2010

Brightside and Mayor Jerry Abramson are teaming up once again with Louisville retailer Parallel 38 for a unique fundraiser to benefit beautification efforts across the city.

The official 2010 Louisville Metro Tie by Southern Proper®, in both necktie and bowtie options, was unveiled today and is now available at Parallel 38, located at 3905 Chenoweth Square. For each tie purchased, Parallel 38 will donate $10 to Brightside's beautification programs.

This is the fourth Brightside fundraiser coordinated by Parallel 38. To date, Brightside has received over $8,000 from the sale of the specialty ties.

Southern Proper and Parallel 38 created the latest Louisville Tie, the third in a series. This year, two designs are offered – one with a contemporary version of the fleur de lis, celebrating one of the city's well-loved icon, and a second with a thoroughbred and fleur de lis pattern. All ties feature the official Louisville Metro Seal on the back and are dated 2010, representing the third year the Louisville Tie has been issued.

Neckties are available in raspberry and royal blue and will sell for $85 at the retailer while bowties are available in raspberry and royal blue and are priced at $65.

“We appreciate Parallel 38’s commitment to our community by contributing to Brightside’s efforts to beautify Louisville,” Abramson said.

“Parallel 38 is well-known for our incredible line of men’s neckties – including a history of custom-designed, limited-edition ties for Louisville Metro, Derby and the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games,” said Terri Cardwell, owner of Parallel 38. "The exclusive Louisville Metro Tie has been such a hit over the past few years that we decided to bring back two equally popular designs for 2010."

Atlanta-based Southern Proper is a southern-inspired line of clothing, neckties, bowties and accessories for men who have a deep appreciation for style and heritage. Complementing the southern gentlemen's courteous manners and sweet humility, this line of clothing is pleated and tied, crisp and certain – offering a classic and refined look perfect for the Derby, the football game, a party and more.

"We're thrilled that Parallel 38 is supporting such a worthy cause as Brightside with the Louisville Metro Tie," said Ansley Kuhlke, vice president of marketing and custom designs at Southern Proper. “It is a great honor for us to be tied to such a great cause and great city."

Parallel 38 is located at 3905 Chenoweth Square in St. Matthews. Please call 1-866-392-9375 or visit www.parallel38.com for more information.
