Mayor Abramson, Brightside, and the Wiche family recognized local stewards who commitmented to preserve and improve the environment. The award continued Fred Wiche’s legacy of promoting beautification and environmental consciousness.

The student winners were recognized December 10th, 2008 at a reception in the Mayor's Gallery. We would like to thank the Wiche family and Motorola for making this event possible, and emcee Barry Bernson for joining us again this year.
First place winners receive $3,000, second place $2,000 and third place will receive $1000. The Adult Award recognizes the efforts of an individual or group in the Kentuckiana region whose environmental stewardship improves their neighborhood or community.
Due to buget cutbacks the adult award has been suspended, but schools are encouraged to apply for the Brightside NatureScape Beautification and Community Garden Grant
Brightside is Louisville’s non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship and beautification.
