The Brightside Fred Wiche Award, sponsored by Motorola, Inc., gives three cash awards for outstanding environmental stewardship projects in Louisville schools (public, private, or parochial). Environmental projects should be educational and involve full participation by students. First place winners receive $3,000, second place $2,000 and third place will receive $500.

The 2009 applications will be posted in the fall.

2008 winners included:
1st place - Meyzeek Middle School
2nd place - Dann C. Byck Elementary
3rd place - Assumption High School

The student winners were recognized December 10th, 2008 at a reception in the Mayor's Gallery. We would like to thank the Wiche family and Motorola for making this event possible, and emcee Barry Bernson for joining us again this year.
