For three years, the Louisville Metro AmeriCorps Program has provided service to Louisville Metro citizens. AmeriCorps Members have contributed thousands of hours of community service themselves, and many have leveraged this through the recruitment of hundreds of volunteers who performed additional hours of service. For their year of service, members received a modest living allowance and those completing their required service hours received an educational award. The AmeriCorps program is funded by a grant from the Corporation for National Service with assistance from the Kentucky Commission for Volunteerism and Community Service.

LMAP members served with non-profits throughout the Metro area and performed many vital tasks: worked with immigrants and youth, helped those in need apply for assistance program, visited the elderly, served meals, led classes, created art projects, and so much more!

The Louisville Metro AmeriCorps Program is currently on hiatus, but there are other AmeriCorps programs in Louisville which may be looking for new members. For information about these programs, please visit www.americorps.gov or all KCCVS at 502-564-7420.
