Summer Food Service Program for Children


The Summer Food Service Program for Children is federally funded by the USDA through the Kentucky Dept. of Education. This program provides nutritionally balanced meals for ALL youth 18 years of age and under. In 2007, the Louisville Summer Food Service Program fed an average of over 10,000 children each weekday at almost 200 sites.

The program will operate in 2008 from June 2nd through August 8th. This Summer Food Service Program is offered at no cost and we encourage sites that are interested in participating to contact us by May 2, 2007. Past locations have included Metro Parks Summer Camp Programs, Church Day Camps/Vacation Bible Schools, and Community Centers.


Requirements are as follows:

• Provide 2 adults (over the age of 18) to be certified through LMCAP 
• Notify the program sponsor of the number and types of meals needed for each day of operation 
• Serve breakfast, lunch snack and/or dinner to any child 18 years of age and under 
• Maintain accountability of meals received and served
