LIHEAP - Early Application Days and Locations

 


LIHEAP Early Registrations beginning Monday, October 5, 2009

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Subsidy Phase provides financial assistance to help citizens pay utility bills. Pre-registration opportunities begin Monday, October 5, 2009 for income eligible residents who are disabled or elderly receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits.

CAP will accept applications at the following Metro Parks community centers throughout Louisville Metro and at four Senior Center locations:

• Sun Valley Community Center, 6505 Bethany Lane, October 5, 9 am – 12 pm
• Beechmont Community Center, 205 West Wellington Avenue, October 6, 9 am – 1 pm
• Dumeyer Community Center, 1644 Squires Drive, October 7, 1 pm – 4 pm
• Portland Community Center, 640 North 27th Street, October 8, 1 pm – 4 pm
• Shelby Park Community Center, 600 East Oak Street, October 9, 1 pm – 4 pm
• Flaget Community Center, 4425 Greenwood Avenue, October 12, 10 am – 1 pm
• Watson Powell, 1836 Heafer Road, October 13, 9 am – 12 pm
• Allgeier Community Center, 4104 Cadillac Court, October 13, 1 pm – 4 pm

Applicants must present the following:
• Most recent heating bills or verification from the landlord verifying that the heating expenses are included in the rent (i.e. lease agreements);
• Social Security cards (or official documentation with social security numbers) or Permanent Resident Card Numbers for everyone living in the household;
• Proof of all household income for the preceding month (Food Stamp Award letter, Termination letter, etc.) or proof of $0 Income; and
• Picture ID

Applicants will be notified via mail regarding the status of their application. Funds for this program will not be disbursed until after November 2, 2009.

Income eligible residents who are not disabled or elderly receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits may still apply for LIHEAP Subsidy benefits. They may obtain an appointment to apply for LIHEAP beginning October 26, 2009.
