More than 120 Summer Lunch Sites Now Open
Summer Food Service Program provides free meals to children under 18

Children and teenagers in need of a meal during the summer may visit more than 120 sites across Louisville participating in the Summer Food Service Program. The Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership (LMCAP) administers the program, which provides free, nutritious meals for children during the summer when school is not in session.

The 122 meal sites serve a combination of two of the following meals -- breakfast, lunch, snack and/or dinner to all children 18 and under in Jefferson County. The free meal service runs through Friday, August 7, 2009.

Ninety sites are considered open sites, where meals are provided to all children 18 and under who wish to receive one. The remaining 32 locations are closed enrolled sites. Most of those sites operate as daycares, and attendance is restricted to the specific group of children enrolled at each of these facilities.

For more information regarding the site locations and types of sites, and starting and ending times of meal service, contact Metro Call at 311 or (502) 574-1157 or visit www.louisvilleky.gov/capClick here to see the current site list.
