Pre-Register for Heating Assistance Program
Early registrations accepted beginning Monday, Oct. 5
Home heating costs can be a large expense for families in the winter, so the Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership (CAP) will begin accepting pre-registration heating assistance applications beginning on Monday, Oct. 5. The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) provides financial assistance to help citizens pay utility bills.
Pre-registration is only for income-eligible residents who are disabled or elderly receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits.
Residents who don’t meet these requirements for pre-registration may still apply for LIHEAP benefits. They may obtain an appointment to apply for LIHEAP beginning October 26 at any CAP location.
Applicants must present the following:
• Most recent heating bill or verification from landlord that heating expenses are included in the rent (i.e. lease agreements);
• Social Security card(s) or official documentation with social security numbers or Permanent Resident Card Numbers for everyone living in the household;
• Proof of all household income for the preceding month (food stamp award letter, termination letter, pay stub, etc.) or proof of $0 income
• Picture ID

Funds for this program will not be disbursed until after November 2, 2009.
