Newburg Weed and Seed
Weed and Seed, a community-based strategy sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, is a comprehensive multi-agency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and community revitalization.
The Weed and Seed strategy is to “weed out” violent criminals and drug abusers and to plant the “seed” of community-based human services such as substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment and neighborhood restoration programs. A community policing component bridges the weeding and seeding elements.
David L. Huber, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, Jerry E. Abramson, Louisville Metro Mayor, and James Flowers, Resident Co-Chair, jointly chair the Weed and Seed Steering Committee. The Steering Committee is a group of Newburg residents, local officials, community representatives, and key Louisville Metro Government Agencies.
Newburg Weed and Seed needs resident participation to succeed! Steering Committee meetings are open to the public:
