Studies from across the nation have shown that better access to the tools that create financial independence is essential for families. National League of Cities' Bank On program is being promoted throughout the country and brings together cities, the Federal Reserve Bank, banks, credit unions, and community-service providers to increase access to banking products and make unbanked and under-banked residents aware of the benefits of having their own accounts in the mainstream banking system.

Louisville has gone one step further by adding another participant vein to the initiative by including the business community. Research shows that employees dealing with personal financial stress show a pattern of problems in the workplace, resulting in decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, frequent personal phone calls, and the risk of fraud and/or theft.

We encourage businesses to get involved for the benefit of their employees. But we also encourage involvement for the benefit of our community as a whole.

The Bank On Louisville program goal is to provide meaningful access to financial services/resources that will move families further up the economic ladder. As community partners, you will help share information with your families/clients once the products and resources are available.
