Trainings CSR’s Moving Forward Job Training Program offers short-term job training opportunities to income eligible residents of Louisville, at least 18 years of age. The Moving Forward program links job readiness, career exploration and job training into a guided process. Eligible participants enroll in a short-term job training program in hopes of obtaining a certification for employment.
Residents interested in applying for this training program should attend the next Information Session on March 7, 2012 beginning at 1 pm at Memorial Auditorium Ballroom, 970 South Fourth Street. Finance 4 U is a Financial Literacy course designed to teach participants basic money management skills in the areas of budgeting, banking, investing, spending wisely, and developing a savings plan. The ETE team partners with other community organizations to offer these classes every six weeks. The next round of classes begin March 21, 2012 at the Catholic Enrichment Center. Other Initiatives The Re-entry Initiative was designed to meet the needs of inmates transitioning out of community corrections or jail facilities who otherwise would be released with little or no job readiness, education or life skills. This is a referral-only program. Please contact Kelley Medley at 574-5223 for more information. Team Hope works with families and individuals to overcome multiple barriers to self-sufficiency through long-term case management. Participants receive assistance with job readiness, assessing mental and medical health care, budgeting, job search life skills and much more. Call Sonita Arnold at 574-7302 for further information.
Other services offered by the ETE team include the OWEP Mentor Program and Youth Internship opportunities. The OWEP (Office of Work Experience Program) Mentor Program is designed to give a helping hand, lend an ear and offer supportive services to CSR’s OWEP volunteers referred by Goodwill’s Power of Work Program. The Youth Internship Program is a part of our T.A.L.K. (Talk, Articulate, Listen, Konnect) curriculum which helps young people in our community develop goal setting, problem-solving, listening and communication skills. GED Connect College Scholarship Program The GED Connect College Scholarship Program provides an educational opportunity for GED graduates who are enrolling in a higher education program. Community Services and Revitalization will award scholarships up to $2,500 (based on need) which will be made payable to the students’ college or university in Louisville Metro to assist with tuition. Applications are currently being accepted for this program and will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Please click here to download the application.
Education in Action The Education in Action Scholarship provided by Louisville Metro Community Services and Revitalization offers funds towards the students’ college of choice at a college or university in Louisville Metro to assist with tuition. This scholarship is offered two times a year, for the fall and spring semesters, so check back periodically for the next round of applications.
Educational Opportunity Incentives Community Services and Revitalization is proud to offer the Educational Opportunity Incentives program. This program is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled, or formerly enrolled with intentions of re-enrolling, in a degreed program who are facing barriers to continuing their education. Assistance is offered in the form of payments for past due tuition, fees, and books or for assistance with past due housing, transportation and child care.
