Micro-Enterprise Development Program



Micro-Enterprise helps to sustain and develop small businesses in Jefferson County for low to moderate income households. The Micro- Enterprise team outreaches to businesses and individuals to provide business related resources, business development curriculum, and an opportunity to apply for forgivable-loans.

Micro-Enterprise is dedicated to creating an atmosphere where low to moderate income entrepreneurs of Louisville Metro can pursue their business goals through increased access to training, capital, and community based resources.

Do you meet the following criteria?:

     • Are you at or below 80% of the yearly Area Median Income? (See Below)
     • Is your business for-profit?
     • Does your business employ 5 or less employees including the owner?
     • Do you have a business plan?
     • Could you use some further business education to sustain, expand or begin your business?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, Micro-Enterprise may be a great program to assist you in your small business journey.


Income eligibility is at or below 80% of yearly Area Median Income (AMI).

1 Person $35,750 or less
2 Person $40,850 or less
3 Person $45,950 or less
4 Person $51,050 or less
5 Person $55,050 or less
6 Person $59,250 or less
7 Person $63,350 or less
8 Person $67,400 or less

Training Opportunities

The Micro-enterprise Development Program has training dollars available to help low to moderate income based businesses owners with a variety of workshops and certifications. Trainings that will help increase the revenue for businesses and/or improve business operations will be considered such as industry certifications, Quickbooks training, Social Media and Marketing and Leadership Development. Spring 2011 Highlights
Micro-Enterprise is proud to announce we had 19 graduates of the first Spark business development training program.  Of the 19 graduates, 9 businesses were selected to receive a forgivable loan.
