Among October Events at Community Services and Revitalization


The Louisville Metro Department of Community Services and Revitalization (CSR) provides safety net and financial empowerment services and works to revitalize neighborhoods in all area of Jefferson County. During October, CSR is involved in a myriad of annual events and special programs that help bring services to those most in need --- including heating assistance for the elderly and disabled, sharing information about weatherization and checking that homes are lead-safe, reaching out to seniors and homeless individuals, and advocating against domestic violence. Individuals needing assistance or service providers wishing to participate in these events can contact CSR representatives at the numbers listed below.

LIHEAP Early Registrations for Seniors and Disabled Citizens
Begins Monday, Oct. 3, 2011 with a total of 18 sites at various community centers and senior centers.
Pre-registration for LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, is available for income eligible residents who are elderly (55 years or older) or disabled, receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits. Senior Day Out
Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, Kentucky International Convention Center, 4th & Market Streets, 8 am – 1:30 pm.
Hosted by TRIAD and numerous community partners, this annual event connects over 1,600 seniors with valuable information and services. Call 502.574.5092 for more information.

Project Homeless Connect / Stand Down 2011
Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, Dismas Charities St. Anne Campus, 1515 Algonquin Parkway, 8:30 am – 3 pm
An annual event providing relief for homeless veterans and other homeless individuals by giving them a chance to receive needed food, clothing, medical care, social and psychological counseling. Call 502.574.3325 for more information.

Neighborhood Place Annual Day
Wednesday, Oct.19, 2011, Fern Valley Hotel & Conference Center, 2715 Fern Valley Road, 8 am – 4 pm.
This event connects Neighborhood Place staff with service providers from partnering agencies for a day of training, workshops, speakers and exhibitors. This year’s theme is “Mission Possible”. Call 502.574.4516 for more information.

National Lead-Safe Week

National Weatherization Day
Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011 is National Weatherization Day.
