LIHEAP Vendor Meetings on September 20, 2012

All vendors wishing to participate in the LIHEAP 2012-2013 program are encouraged to attend one of the important informational sessions scheduled on Thurs., Sept. 20.

LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, is a federally-funded program that provides financial assistance to help eligible low-income households meet their home heating needs. LIHEAP vendors are defined as any business that supplies energy, such as rental facilities where utilities are included in the rent, or provides home heating fuel to individuals applying for the LIHEAP program. Examples of home heating fuel include oil, kerosene, propane, bottled gas, wood, electric or natural gas.

The vendor meetings will help provide information about changes in the LIHEAP program this year and give interested individuals time to complete the necessary vendor packets and ask any questions they may have. Two sessions will be held on Sept. 20, one at 10 a.m. and one at 2 p.m., and it is only necessary to attend one. Both sessions will take place at the Urban Government Center, 810 Barret Ave., Room 261.

The Subsidy Phase of LIHEAP begins Mon., Nov. 5, 2012 and early registrations begin in October for those residents who are on a fixed income, and who are disabled or elderly. Please contact at Elizabeth.Daniels@louisvilleky.gov or (502) 574-6122 with any questions you may have.

Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership (CAP), part of the Department of Community Services and Revitalization, administers the local LIHEAP program for Jefferson County residents. The mission of CAP is to work with our community to reduce the causes and conditions of poverty and to promote self-sufficiency, one family at a time. For more information about CAP, visit our website at www.louisvilleky.gov/cap or call CAP at 502/574-1157 (TDD available at MetroCALL – 574-5000) or Community Action of Kentucky at 1.800.456.3452.
