Kentucky Country Day School will host the third annual Tech-Teach-Learn Conference on Thursday and Friday, June 19-20, 2014. The conference focuses on best practices for technology in teaching and learning. The call for presenters and attendee registration are now open on the website: www.techteachlearn.org.
The conference offers sessions for teachers of all grade levels (Pre-K through high school), all subject areas, and all technology skill levels. We will offer sessions presented by kindergarten through twelfth grade teachers from many local schools and by staff from the Louisville Free Public Library, the Speed Art Museum, the LVL1 Hackerspace, and other local organizations. Recent sessions included topics such as using technology to develop interdisciplinary projects, developing digital readers’ notebooks and e-portfolios, establishing a 1:1 laptop program, creating a digital/paperless classroom, robotics, managing a connected classroom, digital writing in the common core, iPads in elementary classrooms, creating a class website, the best free apps and sites for each subject area, using green screens, creating flipped/online lessons, teaching students how to make digital book trailers, and many, many more.
This year, our keynote speaker is nationally-known teacher, author, and blogger, Vicki Davis. Vicki was named one of “Twitter’s Top 10 Rockstar teachers” by Mashable and included in Thomas Friedman’s book, The World is Flat. She is author of the upcoming book Reinventing Writing and co-author of Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds and writes the Cool Cat Teacher Blog, consistently named one of the top 50 blogs in education worldwide. Vicki has written for Edutopia, The Washington Post, The Atlantic and more. She also teaches full time at Westwood Schools in Camilla, Georgia.
