Ford and UAW Partner to Build Ramps for Disabled Residents
Ford Motor Company and UAW Local 862 announced today a $50,000 donation to the Metro United Way for the Wayne Vickers Memorial Wheel Chair Ramp Project in Louisville to build 25 wheelchair ramps for disabled residents across the city. In addition to the monetary donations, a team of more than 50 UAW volunteers are planning to provide over 2,000 hours of labor to construct the wheelchair ramps.
Dalai Lama Will Visit Louisville May 19-21, 2013
Louisville’s Tibetan Buddhist Center, the Drepung Gomang Institute, and the City of Louisville will host His Holiness the Dalai Lama May 19-21, 2013. The three-day event, called “Engaging Compassion”, will begin on Sunday, May 19 at the YUM! Center when the Dalai Lama will present a public talk to an expected crowd of 16,000.
Student Art Featured on TARC "Compassion Bus"
Thirteen local children have been named winners of TARC’s annual Design A Bus competition and will get to see their artwork adorn a bus that will be unveiled at the Louisville Zoo tomorrow morning.
Louisville Receives International Compassionate City Award
The city of Louisville has been selected to receive the 2012 Jack Olive International Compassionate City Award by the Compassionate Action Network International Institution in Seattle. The city will be honored in ceremonies tomorrow and Thursday in Seattle.
