County Attorney Supports LMPD Bring Peace Home Program
Thursday April 21, 2011
County Attorney Mike O'Connell gave his support to a new Louisville Metro Police Department Program, Bring Peace Home, at a news conference at St. Stephen Baptist Church. Bring Peace home is a series of meetings designed to help prevent violence and to increase awareness of resources available to families when violence happens.
"Police and prosecutors become involved after violence has occurred," said O'Connell, "but the key to prevention is in the home and the family. That's why this program is so important."
The first Bring Peace Home meeting is Friday, April 22, 2011, at St. Stephen Baptist Church, 1008 S. 15th St. Members of the County Attorney Domestic Violence Unit will be there to distribute information and services available at the Domestic Violence Intake Center in the Hall of Justice.
Friday's event will feature appearances by U of L coaches Charlie Strong and Jeff Walz, and is open to the public.
