Community Relations and Events
Responsible for bringing Louisville’s diverse residents together, instilling civic pride, providing opportunity for partnerships & creating awareness of events and attractions.

Corrections
The Department of Corrections supervises inmates in a secure environment, assists with their needs, and helps transition them back into the community.

Criminal Justice Commission
Provides criminal justice and public safety planning, research, and system-wide coordination and collaboration.

Emergency Management
Responsible for preparation, mitigation, response, and recovery from natural and manmade disasters through advance coordination with local, state and federal agencies.

Ethics Commission
Administers the Code of Ethics for elected and appointed officials, specified employees, and family members where applicable.

Finance
Ensures financial integrity by directing, coordinating and monitoring all financial functions of Louisville Metro Government.

Human Resources
Human Resources Department provides efficient, high quality, customer-oriented personnel services to Metro Government employees, city agencies and those seeking employment consistent with legal mandates.

Inspections, Permits & Licenses
Issues and inspects Development Permits (building, electrical, HVAC), enforces Property Maintenance Code (housing) and Land Development Code (zoning), issues ABC, taxi cab, vendor and other licenses and administers the Code Enforcement Board.

Louisville Fire
Provides fire protection and prevention and environmental protection and awareness of both throughout Louisville Metro.

Metro Council
The legislative body for Metro Government. Its 26 members are elected by district to serve 4-year, staggered terms.

Office of Youth Development
Offers educational, social and after-school programs, life skills training, youth employment skills training, job opportunities, and special activities that promote strong families and brighter futures for young people.

Planning and Design
The department reviews and promotes appropriate patterns of growth in the community and provides planning and implementation of public improvement projects.

Revenue Commission
Collects various taxes and occupational license fees on behalf of Louisville Metro Government, the Jefferson County Board of Education, the Anchorage Board of Education and the Transit Authority of River City (TARC).

Technology
Louisville Metro Technology Services provides state-of-the-art, cost-effective telecommunications and information technology services to the agencies and departments of Louisville Metro Government.

Animal Services
Provides for the care and control of animals in the Louisville Metro area, including pet licensing and pet adoption.

Bike Louisville
Bike Louisville is dedicated to creating a bicycling environment where people feel safe and comfortable riding their bikes for fun, fitness, and transportation.

Community Action Partnership (CAP)
Develops and coordinates programs to combat poverty-related issues and services for low-income residents in our community.

Coroner
Investigates all deaths caused by accident, homicide or suicide - including all persons dead of unknown causes.

County Attorney
Represents the legal interests of local government and prosecutes Jefferson District Court cases. Helps with government consolidation, child support, domestic violence, gun crimes, juvenile justice, drunk driving, and more.

Economic Development Department
Enhances the quality of life for Louisville residents by encouraging high-caliber development, and by supporting new and expanding businesses.

EMS
Provides advanced life support pre-hospital care and ambulance transportation to all citizens and visitors in Louisville.

External Agency Fund
Provides funding for qualified non-profit organizations that offer programs or services that advance the long-range vision and goals established by Louisville Metro.

Health and Wellness
Protects and promotes the health, environment and well being of the people of Louisville, providing health-related programs and health office locations community wide.

Housing and Community Development
Works to increase the supply of affordable housing and expand the housing opportunities available to low and moderate income residents.

Human Services
Works to remove barriers to self-sufficiency and strengthen families by providing services, support and resources to youth, aging, the disabled, homeless, immigrants, and populations at risk for abuse and those impacted by poverty.

Internal Audit
The Office of Internal Audit helps to assure city government is running efficiently and that tax payers dollars are being spent wisely by performing reviews of all Metro government departments, offices, boards, activities and agencies.

Mayor Abramson
Louisville’s longest serving mayor, Jerry Abramson is also the first mayor of the merged Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government, which serves 700,000 residents and 385 square miles.

Metro Parks
Operates the community's parks, forests, historic properties, golf courses, swimming pools, community centers and other recreational facilities. The system includes 122 parks covering 13,500 acres.

MetroSafe
Public-safety dispatching and communications network, linking police, fire, emergency medical services, emergency management, health and other responders throughout Louisville Metro.

Neighborhood Place
Neighborhood Place is a partnership of public sector agencies that have come together to create a network of community-based “one-stop” service centers. They provide blended and accessible health, education, employment and human services that support children and families in their progress toward self-sufficiency.

Office for International Affairs
Supports and promotes a vibrant, successful, interconnected, multicultural community through awareness, advocacy and referral.

Office For Women
The Office For Women uses advocacy and policy as a vehicle to improve the status of all women in the Louisville Metro area.

Parking Authority of River City
Provides public parking to serve existing needs and future demands. PARC coordinates with the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) programs that will improve circulation throughout Louisville.

Public Works & Assets
Maintains public streets & rights-of-way, administers capital construction projects, provides professional engineering and planning services.

Solid Waste
Ensures the cleanliness, health and safety of the Urban Services District through collection and disposal of solid waste; collection of recyclables and yard waste; quarterly junk pickup; street cleaning and storm debris and snow removal.

Youth Detention Services
Provides an array of juvenile detention services for safe, secure, temporary shelter of youth charged with status and/or public offenses per Louisville Metro District, Family, and Circuit Court.
