Medical Reserve Corps

(MRC) Medical Reserve Corps units are community-based and function as a way to locally organize and utilize health care volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies, and promote healthy living throughout the year. MRC volunteers supplement existing emergency and public health resources. Some possible MRC utilizations include:

  •  Mass Pharmaceutical Distribution
  •  Mass Vaccination
  •  Medical Support for Emergency Shelters
  •  Public Health Activities

 
The Louisville Metro MRC was established in 2002 and currently has over 800 volunteers. The volunteers include medical and public health professionals such as:

  •  Pharmacists
  •  Dentists
  •  Dental hygienists
  •  Veterinarians
  •  Mental health professionals
  •  Respiratory therapists
  •  Dental students
  •  Medical students
  •  Nursing students
