2007 Goals

EMS

1. To ensure the provision of expert and compassionate prehospital emergency medical care in Louisville Metro, by completing the initial implementation steps of a 911 EMS system that is:

    • Fully accountable;
    • Performance-measured;
    • Quality assured;
    • Medically focused;
    • Responsive to its community;
    • Fiscally responsible, and
    • Completely integrated with Communications and Fire services.

  1. To facilitate a change in the culture of EMS, so that providers and staff assume responsibility for:

    • Ownership of their own ‘best practices’ model workplace;
    • Promotion of a public-health model for emergency medical services, and
    • Their own physical and psychological health and well-being.

Metro Louisville

  1. To continue to expand the city’s focus on the health and well-being of its citizens, including the development and implementation of aggressive programs and legislation promoting:

  • Tobacco cessation
  • Awareness of the implications of fast-food consumption
  • Physical activity and exercise
  • Weight control
  • Stress management
  • Accident Prevention
  • Gun control

  1. To foster the development of a seamless interface for effective communication and problem-solving between city agencies---e.g., Public Protection Cabinet, Human Resources, Finance, Facilities Management, Information Technology and Neighborhoods---highlighting the importance of partnership and interagency support.
