The Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement is an association of individuals, groups, and organizations from both the public and private sectors working together on a common goal based on shared interests and commitments.
Coalesced around developing a clear and unified response to a wholesale problem, a poor citywide health status, the Movement is designed to create cultural change, modify directions, and accelerate progress toward solving the problem.
Ownership of the problem is spread among partners:
- shared communications and resources
- shared leadership
- shared action
- shared responsibility
- shared credit
Partners share resources to achieve the Mayor’s community-wide health and wellness goals:
- Increase the number of Louisville Metro residents who
engage in 30 minutes of moderate physical activity at least 5 days a week.
- Decrease the percentage of overweight or obese people in
Louisville Metro.
- Increase the number of Louisville Metro residents who eat five or more servings of fruits and vegetables per day.
- Develop a strong baseline of worksite wellness programs and activities in the community.
- Improve health equity by supporting physical activity programs in communities most adversely impacted by poor health
Partner individuals, groups and organizations will participate by:
- making a programmatic or financial commitment to the Movement
- promoting the importance of healthy lifestyles to clientele, employees and general public
- consider the development of promotional events
- maximize media opportunities
- maximize use of shared messages on websites, newsletters and other publications
Partnership benefits include:
- publicly listed as partners on website and in other printed and broadcast materials
- use of Mayor's Healthy Hometown Movement logo and access to promotional materials (pdf) technical assistance and training for wellness programs
- share in educational extension events including workshops, seminars and speaker panels
- opportunities for co-branding, promotional events with the Mayor
