Welcome to the digital home of the Step Up, Louisville! Task Force and Louisville's Community Walkability Plan.  This project is setting the course for a walkable future for Louisville.

Step Up Louisville's co-chairs are Tori Murden McClure and Chris Dickinson.

Tori is the Vice President of Spalding University and the first woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Tori is passionate about Pedestrian issues, especially as they pertain to people with disabilities.

Chris Dickinson is an engineer and Managing Partner with Gresham Smith & Partners, the firm who worked with Toole Design Group to lead the Pedestrian Summit and Community Walkability Plan. Chris chaired the KY Derby Festival in 2009, and he also chaired the GLI Transportation Committee for two years.

While not everyone is a driver or a cyclist, we are all pedestrians at some point in every day. Louisville is set to launch a new safety campaign called Street Sense, a continuing awareness campaign to make our streets safer for cyclists and pedestrians.

Read more about why walkability is so important for our community.

If you have questions or comments, or would like to join our committee, please contact Marigny Bostock via email.

Many thanks to our talented consultant team and sponsoring agencies who helped make the Pedestrian Summit and Community Walkability Plan a reality.

Consultant Team:
Toole Design Group of Hyattsville, MD - among the top pedestrian planning firms in the country - led the team.

Gresham, Smith, & Partners' Louisville office was the Community Liaison, representing the team at public events and working face-to-face with citizens and government.

Mark Fenton, host of the PBS television series America's Walking
, was the MC of the Spring 2008 Pedestrian Summit and provided a lot of technical expertise throughout the project.
