Additional Free Diabetes Classes Being Offered by Health Department

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – (October 23, 2006) Individuals interested in learning about and managing diabetes are invited to attend a series of two free classes being offered by the Louisville Metro Health Department beginning Saturday, November 4, at the Louisville Metro Health Department, 400 East Gray Street.
Classes are free and attendance at both classes is encouraged. All classes begin at 9:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. Phone 574-6663 for reservations or for more information. Class size is limited so reservations are required. The class schedule is as follows:
Class 1: November 4
Overview of Diabetes,
Types of Diabetes,
High and Low Blood Sugar
Sick Days, Diet and Exercise
Class 2: November 11
Diabetes Pills, Insulin,
Foot and Skin Care, Glucose
Monitoring and Standards of Care
The Health Department also has a free support group for people with diabetes and their family or caretakers. The group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from 9:30 – 11 AM at the Park DuValle Community Health Center at 3015 Wilson Avenue. Phone 574-6663 for more information.
