Health and Wellness Newsroom
Slugger Field Flu Clinic Sunday
Tuesday October 5, 2010
The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold its annual Louisville Slugger Seasonal Flu Shot Clinic on Sunday.
The Slugger Field Flu Shot Clinic will be held Sunday October 10 from 10 a.m. to
3 p.m. at 401 E. Main St. There will be plenty of free parking. No appointments are necessary.
Immunizations will be $25 for injectable (shot) vaccine and $30 for nasal mist. Pediatric preservative-free vaccine will be $27.50 and high-dose vaccine for those age 65 older will be $40. Passport and Medicare will cover the cost for individuals with those insurance plans. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay at the time of service.
For the first time this year, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending universal vaccination for everyone 6 months of age and older. This year’s influenza vaccine will protect against the H1N1 as well as two other seasonal flu viruses. People will now be able to protect themselves against both H1N1 and seasonal flu with a single vaccination.
Also new this year will be a high-dose influenza vaccine that strengthens immune response in people age 65 and older. High dose vaccine will be available at the Slugger Field Clinic.
