Healthy Child Care

Healthy Child Care is a program of the Louisville Metro Health Department funded by the KIDS NOW-Kentucky Early Childhood Initiative. This program provides consultation and classes, by Louisville Metro Health Department Registered Nurses, to Child Care providers, children and parents in Metro Louisville, on health, safety and nutrition and the benefits of early intervention and the importance of children's social/emotional wellbeing. A child care health consultant is available to you through the Kid’s Now initiative. Services and education are available to providers, parents and children to promote health, safety and nutrition in child care.

The programs goals include:
  • Improve children’s immunization status,
  • Identify children at risk for lead poisoning,
  • Reduce the number of children with inappropriate weight for height and
  • Promote physical and mental health within childcare setting.

The staff offers TB skin tests and CPR/First Aid training for childcare providers to satisfy
