Mayor Fischer is proud to announce paddling as a third component to the Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle.

Paddle course (PDF)“Canoeing and kayaking are great family activities, and are among the fastest-growing recreational sports in the nation,” Fischer said. “This will also be a terrific way to get back to our roots as a city born along the river, and an opportunity to enjoy and explore Waterfront Park.”

The paddling component will consist of non-motorized watercraft on the Ohio River such as, kayaks, canoes and rowboats.

The vessels will enter the Ohio River near Harbor Point at Waterfront Park. Paddlers will go upriver and back.

This event is free to the public and all participants must have and wear a life jacket. Paddlers will not be racing and can travel the river at a leisurely pace.
