Real Estate Donation

Housing and Community Development accepts property that a resident no longer wishes to maintain or pay taxes on, if it meets the needs of Louisville Metro for redevelopment and use.

The property must:
  • be owned free and clear.
  • have no unpaid mortgages or liens (except IPL liens).
  • be reviewed by Division of Housing and Community Development.
If the property meets these requirements, a resident may donate property and receive tax advantages. All IPL liens and Louisville Metro taxes will be forgiven.
