Lead-Safe Louisville

Lead-Safe Louisville Project is a partnership between Housing and Community Development and the Louisville Metro Department of Health and Public Wellness.

The purpose of the Lead-Safe Louisville Program is to eliminate lead hazards that exist in both owner-occupied and rental units in the Metro Louisville area, especially those in which children under six years of age reside. Houses and apartments built before 1978 are most likely to have lead-based paint which can create a hazard to its inhabitants. Key risk factors are chipping or peeling paint on doors, windows, woodwork or exterior siding. Children are particularly prone to lead poisoning (PDF File) in such environments.

See informational flyer (PDF File) to register for a free home inspection.

Persons assisted through this program can be homeowners (owner-occupied) or landlords, though the homeowners and tenants must meet the income qualifications.

If you think your home may contain lead hazards, please contact The Lead Safe Louisville Team at 574-3107.
