Metro Animal Services Announces Upcoming Rabies Clinics
Metro Animal Services will hold several rabies, license and microchip clinics this year at the Animal Care Center located at 3705 Manslick Road, in Shively and also other locations. The first clinic planned will be on May 12 at the Salvation Army located at 1010 Beecher Street.

800+ Local Volunteers Age 55-90's Celebrated during National Senior Corps Week
May 7-11, 2012 is National Senior Corps Week and hundreds of older volunteers are celebrated locally for their outstanding contributions to our community. For the third year, the Corporation for National & Community Service, national funder of the Louisville Metro FGP (Foster Grandparent Program) and RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program), is publicly recognizing the huge impact from members of the Senior Corps programs (FGP, RSVP and Senior Companion Program –SCP) with a celebratory week of acclaim and (hopefully) additional recruitment. Based on the 2010 Independent Sector’s Kentucky average value of $17.65 per hour, the volunteers of these two programs provided caring services to our community totaling $3.9+ million dollars!

Preservationists Create New Heritage Conservation Fund
Main Street Revitalization LLC – a group of investors that purchased five condemned Whiskey Row buildings - in partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the group will establish the Heritage Conservation Fund, a non-profit revolving equity and loan fund dedicated to local historic preservation.
