Tutankhamun The Golden King and the Great at The Children's Museum Of Indianapolis. The exhibition features 50 objects from the tomb of Tutankhamun including the gold sandals that adorned the mummy's feet and a beautifully adorned canopic jar that mummified his internal organs. In addition to the treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun, 80 ancient artifacts are featured, which highlight many of the most significant rulers of ancient Egypt such as Khefren, whose great pyramid is the only remaining structure of the seven wonders of the ancient world and Hatshepsut, the queen who became king. The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is offering fellowships/grants for up to two years of graduate study in the United States. A fellow may pursue a graduate degree in any professional field (e.g., engineering, medicine, law, social work) or scholarly discipline in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. The fine and performing arts are included. To be eligible, applicants must not be older than thirty years of age as of November 1, 2009. New Americans are defined as: (1) is a resident alien (i.e., holds a Green Card); or 2) has been naturalized as a U.S. citizen; or 3) is the child of two.

The World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana is looking for host families! The World Affairs Council of Kentucky and Southern Indiana (www.worldkentucky.org) will host a group of Serbian teenagers during the period September 20-October 5, 2009 who will be visiting Louisville to participate in a program centered on Leadership Development and Civic Activism. Participants will be ages 15-17, and will stay with local host families during their entire time in Louisville. The presence of teenagers in the host family home is a preference is a preference (but not an absolute requirement) for being a host family for this particular group. The Louisville Free Public library has opened the Job Shop, which offers assistance to people searching for work. The Job Shop is located on the second floor of the Main Library at Third and York streets. Its resources include 20 laptop computers, as well as reference books on such topics as careers, how to develop job and interview skills and how to write resumes. Some activities are available to keep children busy while parents are using the Job Shop. The agencies include: KentuckianaWorks; Dress for Success; the Highlands Commerce Guild; the Center for Accessible Living; New Directions Unlimited; and officials affiliated with business programs at the University of Louisville, and Bellarmine and Spalding universities. Heritage Sundays at JFCS offers a unique opportunity to immigrant communities interested in educating the Louisville community about their countries and cultures, and raising money for group community activities. One local group will be able to do this each Sunday through September, during the JFCS Farmers Market and International Bazaar. GLI Launches Free Rx Card to Address Drug Costs GLI, along with the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness and members of the Louisville Metro Council, embraced the program as one way to address member concerns - particularly small businesses - over the accessibility and affordability of heath care coverage for their employees. The Kentucky Rx Card has no restrictions for membership, no income requirements, no age limitations and no application process, and is accepted at more than 50,000 national and regional pharmacies. The program can be used by the uninsured, underinsured and those who have health insurance but no prescription benefits, as is common with health savings accounts and high-deductible health plans.
