Now through May 23 E-Corps, Louisville’s Urban Conservation Corps is taking applications for paid summer internship positions . The work program begins June 3 through August 8. A total stipend of $1,000 will be paid out in two week intervals throughout the 8 week program. Chamba News May 8 Louisville, Kentucky-based Spanish newspaper Al Dia en America is announcing the upcoming release of its new publication designed to connect metro area businesses with bilingual-speaking workers on May 8. Called “Chamba News”, the insert in Al Dia en America comes in response to requests from many Louisville and Southern Indiana business owners who are trying to fill a need for bilingual (Spanish, English and other languages) employees. The insert will run monthly editions in Al Dia en America, with focus primarily on the Louisville metro area. Business representatives who want to find out more are invited to a Happy Hour on May 13, 5 -7pm, at Caffe Classico, 2144 Frankfort Ave.

Basic Training for Document Translation May 17 Catholic Charities is offering this training with an objective to provide information necessary for development of skills and knowledge needed for successful performance of document translations. May 17 UofL Spanish Professor Rhonda Buchanan will present "Quick Fix: Sudden Fiction" by Ana María Shua at the Cuban coffee house Cachito Mío (11316 Maple Brook Drive). Sudanese Graduation Event Coming in June June 7 Join us for the 3rd Annual Sudanese Scholars Celebration. The Sudanese Refugee Education Fund will recognize five students who have earned bachelor's degrees during the 2007-08 school year, as well as one student who has earned an associate's degree. The group includes the first Didinga woman in the United States to earn a college degree. A reception will follow the ceremony, which is open to the public.
