The Best Tasting Water in America has been voted number one again! The American Water Works Association (AWWA), holding a regional conference this week in Knoxville, once again named Louisville’s water the best tasting in Kentucky and Tennessee.
Louisville Water Company (LWC) won the national title earlier this summer at the national AWWA conference in Atlanta. The regional win allows Louisville Water Company to defend the national title next summer in San Diego.
LWC President Greg Heitzman called the recent win an employee team victory. “We have a huge talent pool and those employees are dedicated to making safe, affordable, great tasting drinking water every day,” said Heitzman.
“We’re proud of the great product and service we deliver to Louisville Metro. And with an abundant supply in the Ohio River we hope to deliver even more Pure Tap, America’s best tasting tap water, to customers throughout the region.”
The company named its water about 11 years ago as part of a campaign encouraging customers to drink tap water. Thousands of reusable, recyclable Pure Tap bottles are given away every year with the message, “If you want really great bottled water in our city, all you need is the bottle.”
Second place honors went to the water utility in Maryville, Tennessee. The Jackson Energy Authority of Jackson, Tennessee came in third.
Louisville Water Company has provided water to the area since 1860. The company serves approximately one million customers in Louisville Metro and surrounding counties.
