Louisville Water Company Recognized for Outstanding Safety and Operations

The KY-TN Section of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) recognized Louisville Water Company for outstanding safety and plant operations at the annual Water Professionals Conference in Covington, KY this week.
Louisville Water earned the Outstanding Safety Award for reducing the number of OSHA recordable injuries and vehicular accidents in 2010; implementation of new safety policies for cell phone use in vehicles and safety vests; and commitment from its Executive Leadership to provide safe operating environments for employees.
Louisville Water’s B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant received the Plant Operations Award for plants producing more than 10 million gallons a day. The Section cited the plant’s exemplary operations in 2010, receiving the Phase IV Excellence in Water Treatment award from the Partnership for Safe Water and ASCE Civil Engineering Project of the Year award for its Riverbank Filtration project.
Project Manager, Kay Ball, was recognized for her service as Chair of the KY-TN Section AWWA. Government Affairs Manager, Vince Guenthner, was named Chair of the Water Utility Council of KY-TN Section AWWA.
