Louisville Sports Commission and Louisville Water Set Date for Fall Races
On-line registration is now open
The 2nd annual Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon and Louisville Water Company pure tap® 5k will be held November 3. On-line registration is open.
With the overwhelming success of the inaugural races held last November, the two Louisville-based organizations will again provide runners and walkers a first-class, fall racing experience along unique routes.
“For all those runners and walkers who recently completed the Triple Crown of Running and the Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon – you don’t need to stop training!” said Karl Schmitt, executive director of the Louisville Sports Commission. “Our fall races are meant to encourage everyone who participated in the spring races to train deeper into the year.”
“The Louisville pure tap® 5k is a great complement to the half marathon and enables all participants to choose the distance that’s right for them,” said Louisville Water President & CEO Greg Heitzman. “We’re delighted to once again provide an option for anyone not quite ready for a half marathon, but who is still interested in a family-friendly race.”
Both races will start in front of the KFC Yum! Center. The half marathon will begin at 8:30 a.m., wind its way through the entire Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park and finish on Main Street in front of the Belvedere. The Louisville pure tap® 5k will begin at 8 a.m., follow a route along the waterfront and also finish on Main Street. Additional race information and on-line registration is at www.lscmarathon.com.
