Thursday May 12, 2011
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer recommended and the Louisville Metro Council approved John Bleidt to a 4-year term of the Board of Water Works, the governing body for Louisville Water Company.
Bleidt, a Louisville attorney, replaces Jerry Martin who served on the Board for 8 years and was Chair since 2009.
At its May meeting, the Board of Water Works appointed Marita Willis as Chair and Creighton Mershon as Vice-Chair of the Board.
“I’d like to recognize Jerry Martin for his dedication to Louisville Water and his leadership over the past eight years,” said Greg Heitzman, President and CEO of Louisville Water. “He has provided valuable contributions to Louisville Water in strategic planning, finance and new business ventures.”
The Board of Water Works is composed of seven members all appointed by the Mayor and approved by Metro Council. All new board members serve staggered terms. The Louisville Metro Mayor serves as ex officio.
