Modernizing Louisville's Fire Protection for the 21st Century

Mayor Jerry Abramson commissioned an extensive, independent study of Louisville’s urban fire protection nearly three years ago. This was the first time a comprehensive review of stations, equipment and personnel has been conducted in our community.

Using the study’s findings as a starting point, along with input from firefighters and neighborhood leaders, the Mayor committed to modernizing Louisville’s fire protection, and creating a Louisville Fire Department for the 21st Century.

Station Locations:

  • The New Portland Station will be at 25th & Griffith Avenue and will house Engine 6

  •  The New Spring Street Station will be on the corner of Spring Street and Story Avenue and will house Telesquirt 21.
