Mayor and Firefighters Urge Families to Prevent Burns

Stimulus Money Will Build New Beechmont Firehouse in Louisville
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced today that Louisville has been awarded one of the country’s ten largest grants from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for new firehouse construction. The $3.3 million award will be used to construct a new firehouse in the Beechmont neighborhood -- part of the Mayor’s 21st Century Fire Plan.

Four new fire pumper trucks sprayed their first streams of water at Fire Training Headquarters today, commemorating their addition as the newest equipment on the Louisville Fire Department’s front line.

Mayor, Fire Chief Celebrate Opening of New Firehouse
Mayor Jerry Abramson joined Louisville Fire Chief Greg Frederick and neighbors today to formally open the new Engine 21 fire station in Butchertown. The station joins Engine 6 in Portland as the first new stations to open in the city in 14 years.

Region’s Firefighters Get Lifesaving Security Devices
The Federal Emergency Management Agency joined Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson, Congressman John Yarmuth and regional fire chiefs today to announce a $1.7 grant to 22 fire departments serving Louisville Metro and southern Indiana.
