Smoke Detectors

Smoke Detector

Mayor Fischer and Metro Government demonstrate concern and support for Fire Prevention by providing ten-year lithium battery smoke alarms to those property owners who cannot afford one.

Persons should go to the MetroCall 311 website or call 311 to request a detector.

TIPS:

Change Your Clock - Install a 10 Year Lithium Smoke detector

  • When batteries in your old smoke alarm need replacing, install a 10 year lithium battery smoke alarm or a hard-wired system.
  • Regularly vacuuming or dusting your smoke alarm following manufacturer's instructions can help keep it working properly.
  • Never "borrow" a battery from a old style 9v smoke alarm.
  • Replace your smoke alarms once every 10 years.
  • Make sure that everyone in your home can hear and recognize the sound of the alarm and knows how to react immediately.
